Closing Time

I took a walk to get out of the house. I had taken a nap and was in that post-nap groggy phase, so I needed something to wake back up. I figured the camera was a nice companion for my trip around the block. Sunsets are frustrating to capture, but I did what I could.

Also, Kendle sure did a great job on another painting I had her do! It's amazing! :)

Nifty

Knifty Knitters make fun hats. After my Eagle project a few years ago we've always wanted to make a bunch to give away to the less fortunate. My mom has one already finished, and we're both working on one now. :)

Whoa Baby!

This is post number 100! Exciting, right? I wish I had something to give away to my diligent followers for seeing me through this momentous occasion, but I don't. You're out of luck. But you do get to enjoy my life through the lens, and that seems like payment enough. :)

Anyway, for as long as I can remember, I have loved books. I like having pretty books with crisp pages and immaculate covers. College has ruined my opportunity to do any personal reading (just as I was starting to really branch out. blast that college). That's why this break has been nice - I got two books for Christmas and am almost done with one of them.

Steve

Meet Steve. This Chia Head, as it is called, was a gift to me from my lovely friend, Kendle. I am so excited to watch him grow (as soon as I get the seeds on his funny grooved head). I'll update you with his progress. I think he and Gary will be friends.

Nice Shot

I got a lovely Remington 870 shotgun for Christmas. We went shooting today. It is gorgeous and already feels like home. I love guns with wood stocks (Dad said he drove all over town looking for a wood stock - they're his favorite), but I think the composite stock is fun and modern. We went shooting today up in Redington. We were shooting next to some very kind and courteous people. Out of no where, the Forest Service comes and breaks up our party. Apparently clay pigeons are illegal in this area because we don't have the proper moisture to degrade the targets. Major bummer. Now I need to find a new place to shoot. But it was still an excellent day.

Anticlimax

We wait for this day all year, and in a flash, it's gone.

Once again, the fantastic mantle decor is the object of my affection. Christmas is over, but its fond memories will linger on in our hearts forever.

Dinner

We had Christmas dinner tonight (Christmas Eve) instead of tomorrow because Kyle has to work tomorrow night. But it was all very delicious (and what does it really matter what day you eat all the good stuff? haha).

Framed

I love picture frames. Displaying memories or art you're proud of is something that I have only recently picked up, but it doesn't get old. Scored some really great frames. I love them.

Oh, and those funny cardboard things are what came on the edge of the picture frames so that they wouldn't be all bashed up when you opened them. Ikea is so thoughtful compared to Joann Fabric - I had a minor issue with some frames from there once. Haha.

Party It Up

My mom got some flowers at work for her birthday. I though I ought to capture them. That is pretty much my thought process with everything these days-

Ooh, that's neat/fun/pretty/unusual/fancy/gorgeous. I ought to photograph that. I wonder how I could make it more visually interesting...

And there you have it, folks - the workings of my mind. Simple, but oh so sweet.

Collegiate

I had my camera on campus today. I got a few neat things. Don't tell my boss... I probably shouldn't be taking pictures on the clock. Haha

Family Time

Okay, so these were from yesterday... but we had a big Baker family get-together yesterday in Camp Verde and I liked some of these. Anyway, Verde is about an hour and a half North of the Phoenix area, and that's where my Granddaddy lives. We had lots of fun.

While I was there, my cousin let me borrow her Canon Rebel DSLR and play with it. It was so amazing. These are from my little Sony (which I love), but wow. Seriously, I will have a big beautiful DSLR someday. Anyway, I had a great time with the family. I'm particularly proud of the tire track one. I really love it.

When Will It Stop?

Could these get any cooler? I swear, I'm never going to take pictures of anything else as long as the lilies and amaryllis are around because they are looking so dang cool! And there are still quite a few buds that haven't opened in the lilies, so I'm looking forward to that!

Repetition

I know that this has been the object of my photos for a while now, but they just change so fast! I took these this morning, and they've already opened up to be amazing!

Blossom

The amaryllises are still going. It's kind of amazing the progress they can make in such a short time. Here is a look at the progression of the amaryllises so far.

Two years ago, Kitty was put down. I've been thinking about him lately. I miss him. We got this ornament the year he left. In loving memory...
