Heart of Stone

So, we have this big awesome pot my dad put in the yard this week (the makeover in front is rapidly pulling together). He's thinking about making it into a fountain. Additionally, our granite counter tops are regular conversation pieces for first-time visitors in our home because of how dramatic they are. This picture doesn't have any of the real drama in it, but the light was awesome. Sometimes stone is so much more than just rock. A.k.a. art. Haha.

My dad got this skull in Rocky Point, and he was determined to make it part of our yard's decor. He hung it in the front courtyard this week. It's kind of awesome, I won't even lie, even if it is kind of bizarre.

This is one of my mom's African Violets that she grows in the house. They are funny litle things, but super neat.

La Ventana

That means "the window" for those that are less familiar with Spanish. My room is the only room in the house that gets direct afternoon light, which is handy when I'm cold or doing homework, but now that winter is approaching it won't even matter because it gets dark so dang early. Oh well. I'm excited for the cooler weather!

Fresh Starts

I won't even lie... I think the morning is the best time of the day for picture taking. The light is always better. Maybe it's because my backyard faces east. Very possible... Anyway, got these this morning before running off to school.

Tick Tock

Where does the time go? I can't believe it's already November. I was so excited for October and it's over! Oh well, because that means Christmas and cool weather are coming!

Sod

The winter grass is looking beautiful. The sprinklers were running, and I couldn't get a cool picture of the water, but I did like the water on the flagstone. Kinda neat, huh?

The shadows were being awesome today at work. Sadly that is about the only cool thing at work. Ever.

Today was such a freakin' long day. This was all I got. And it turned out kinda crappy. But it's something.

Wowzer

Today I went down to campus to do some homework. I have been on campus 7 out of 7 days this week, which is 7 too many if you ask me. But at least I'm around cool buildings, I suppose. The first building is Bear Down Gym- it's one of the oldest buildings on campus (U of A was built in the 1890s, just so you know). The second is the Science and Engineering Library. It's nice and quiet in there, though less fun than the main library.

This is real modern art. People think modern art is ink blots and canvases painted solid colors. No. This is real modern art. The Cherry Street Parking Garage the Optical Sciences building. Note pictures 2, 5, & 6 of September 25.

This is of my friend's computer. I know I already have a picture like this, but I love the reflection of the lights at the end of the keyboard, courtesy of the nearby Burger King in the Student Union. And this is yesterday's (Oct 29) picture.

Lift

I've always wanted to go to England and use their awesome terms like "lift" instead of "elevator," "flat" instead of "apartment," or "mind the gap" instead of "hey stupid, there's a gap there you don't want to fall into." Anyway, this is an elevator in the University Services Building, or USB for short. I deliver lots and lots of stuff there.
