Palm Reading
We have these cool palm blossoms. Pop says they're from a Queen Palm, also known as Arecastrum romanzoffianum. Say that five times fast! At any rate, they've dried out (quite some time ago, I might add) and now they're in a vase in our front yard. They're pretty cool. The way nature becomes decorative like that astounds me. Like dried flowers. Even cooler are flowers that dry, but don't fade or lose color. They look fresh all year long! Haha.

On the Doppler
Today's weather was kind of bizarre. Cold and rainy this morning, then ridiculous wind, and then a nasty haze that completely blocked the Catalinas and Rincons (note photo 1, which is facing east). Out of no where, come glimpses of sun. That's where the poppy comes in (photo 2). My dad picked some and brought them inside so that they don't all die in the wind. They're awful fragile. Anyway, bizarre weather today! Photo 3 is just there because I like it.

Wakey Wakey, Hands Off Snakey
Name the show, name the show! Pahahaha. Anyway, I really am a competent morning person, assuming I went to bed at a reasonable hour the night before. I even like being up in the mornings. I like sunrises and dew (or rain, from last night! I love that stuff!), breakfast and the newspaper, and the list goes on and on. Well, I originally only had to be on campus at 8AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but I know that I need to be taking an Institute class, and the only one that worked out was one at 8AM on Mondays and Wednesdays. So here's to 8AM Monday through Thursday! And Kelsey, I get up at 5:30 (with expected 'Snooze' use) to make it on campus on time! Feel lucky you live on campus!

Dishing It Out
There I am, unloading the dishwasher, when it hits me - dishes always have cool lines. I love lines and patterns. I haven't always. Only since I started the photography journey. But I really liked today's photos, even if they're totally random.

I fixed my painting. The gray book looked more like a blob. It's a little more rectangular now! Haha. It's very simplistic and very remedial in comparison to some other talented artists that I know, but that's okay. I'm going to hang it in my den, along the walls lined with books when I'm older. It is the manifestation of my love for books.
I really do think I'm going to keep going with this - at least one more. And hopefully I'll do something really cool. I'm going to put a quote on the top of this one in all of that empty space too, so it still isn't quite finished yet.

My Life's Calling? Probably Not...
I woke up today with a ton of thoughts on what to paint. I sketched a Converse and it was terrible. I finally thought up books, and went to town! And I knew that it was going to be way easier than Converse, and that would be better for a novice of a painter. I was really happy until I painted the gray one on here. I can't decide if I should just keep trying to touch it up, or if I should paint over it altogether. I'm going to find a way to put a quote about books at the top too. I do like it, for the most part. It was more fun to paint than my first painting, so that's good.

Take Two
I bought another canvas today (they're still 50% off!) and a tube of white paint. I'm thinking of trying my hand at Converse, but I feel really unoriginal since Kendle painted me that amazing one that now hangs above my desk (see here if you don't recall). The shoe pictures are a few possibilities.
I really enjoyed the painting I did last time, so I'm looking forward to something a little more sophisticated. And I'm thinking about changing up the little one I just did last week. Haha. We'll see how this goes!

Let Us
I'm pretty excited about my Tuesday/Thursday schedule, because that means I'll be home before 4. The drawback is that I have to be at work at 8AM, but there's a give-and-take for everything, I suppose. Anyway, that's early enough that there is still some quality light left for picture taking! I love these little lettuce looking things. They have them in a few colors (the purple ones are really neat), and we upretty much grow them every year. They crack me up!
