What Are Crepes?

This is a fun tree called Crepe mertle (or Crape myrtle), also known as Lagerstroemia is super cool. I love it. What are crepes, anyway?

Verde Valley

We traveled the road to Camp Verde to visit my awesome Granddaddy for day-before-but-practically-Father's-Day festivities. My camera died before I even got photos of family, which was sad, but I got some fun stuff still.

Crepes

This tree is called crepe myrtle. Every year it blooms these really neat purple flowers. I remember the days when it was so much smaller... those days seem not that long ago. Constantly I am surprised at how long ago things happened and how much older I really am. It is kind of amazing to see a tree grow up just as I have.

Time Off

There isn't much to say about today. The weather was nice. I have been greatly enjoying Spring Break, and am happy to have four more days before I go back to school. For the first time in a long time, I'm reading books. As in, books just because I want to, not because they're required reading material. I am so happy!

On the Doppler

Today's weather was kind of bizarre. Cold and rainy this morning, then ridiculous wind, and then a nasty haze that completely blocked the Catalinas and Rincons (note photo 1, which is facing east). Out of no where, come glimpses of sun. That's where the poppy comes in (photo 2). My dad picked some and brought them inside so that they don't all die in the wind. They're awful fragile. Anyway, bizarre weather today! Photo 3 is just there because I like it.

Wakey Wakey, Hands Off Snakey

Name the show, name the show! Pahahaha. Anyway, I really am a competent morning person, assuming I went to bed at a reasonable hour the night before. I even like being up in the mornings. I like sunrises and dew (or rain, from last night! I love that stuff!), breakfast and the newspaper, and the list goes on and on. Well, I originally only had to be on campus at 8AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but I know that I need to be taking an Institute class, and the only one that worked out was one at 8AM on Mondays and Wednesdays. So here's to 8AM Monday through Thursday! And Kelsey, I get up at 5:30 (with expected 'Snooze' use) to make it on campus on time! Feel lucky you live on campus!

Family Time

Okay, so these were from yesterday... but we had a big Baker family get-together yesterday in Camp Verde and I liked some of these. Anyway, Verde is about an hour and a half North of the Phoenix area, and that's where my Granddaddy lives. We had lots of fun.

While I was there, my cousin let me borrow her Canon Rebel DSLR and play with it. It was so amazing. These are from my little Sony (which I love), but wow. Seriously, I will have a big beautiful DSLR someday. Anyway, I had a great time with the family. I'm particularly proud of the tire track one. I really love it.

Winter Foliage

This time of year brings a few specific things that I really really love. The look and smell of a Douglas Fir tree is number one. The growth and bloom of an Amaryllis is number two.

I entered the Tacky Sweater Contest at work. I got second, even though I should have won. But what's done is done. And it was super fun anyway!

Winds of Change

This morning was cold and windy. Loving it.
